Onion Pakoda

Onion Pakoda/Pakoras Recipe

Ingredients: (Serves 2)

  • Onion – 1 (medium-sized)
  • Besan/Gram flour – ½ cup
  • Rice flour – 2 Tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Garam masala – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
  • Baking Soda – 1 pinch (optional)
  • Asafoetida – 1 pinch
  • Oil – for frying
  • Salt

(Note: 1 Cup = 250 ml)
Method: (With Step-by-Step Pictures)


 


Thinly slice onion lengthwise

 


Separate it to pieces.

 


In a bowl take all the ingredients.

 


Add little water at a time and mix well to a thick and smooth mixture. (I used less than ¼ cup of water)

Heat oil in a pan. With your hand put small portions (approx 1 tsp) of the onion batter into the oil and deep fry the onion pakoras until its golden brown in color.

 


Drain the excess oil in a paper towel. Serve hot with Tomato Sauce.
