Payam Pori/Ethakka Appam/Banana Fritters Recipe
Ingredients:
- Ripe Banana – 2 (sliced)
- All purpose flour/ Maida – 1 cup
- Rice Flour – 1 Tbsp
- Baking Soda – 1 pinch
- Sugar – 2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Water – ¾ to 1 cup
- Oil – for frying
- Salt
(Note: 1 Cup = 250 ml)
Method: (With Step-by-step pics)
Take ripe banana and cut into pieces as shown in pic.
Take the maida, rice flour, baking soda, sugar, turmeric powder in a bowl (Adding baking soda is optional. It helps to make payam pori fluffy and crisp)
Add water little at a time and mix well so that you get a batter slightly loose than dosa batter. (You can vary the quantity of water to adjust the consistency)
Heat oil in a pan. Once oil is heated reduce to medium flame. (Use coconut oil to get the authentic taste)
Dip banana in batter prepared and fry in oil
Fry until its golden brown and remove from oil (Put stove in high flame while removing payam pori so that payam pori wont absorb too much oil)
Place it on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Serve and Enjoy!!!!!!
