Mutta Dosa (Egg Dosa)

Before my wedding, during my stay in Bangalore we always used to buy ready-made dosa batter or dosa mix and it used to be our breakfast for weekends. After wedding only I started making dosa batter myself and what a difference, dosa used to come out so soft and taste better. My husband only asked me to make egg dosa and now its one our favorite.

Egg Dosa Recipe

Ingredients:

For Dosa Batter

  • Raw rice(Pachari)  – 1 ½  cup
  • Urad Dal – ¾ cup
  • Water – 1 ½ cup
  • Salt

For Top Layer

  • Egg  – 1 each for 2 dosa
  • Tomata
  • Small onion
  • Green chilli (optional)
  • Salt

 

Method:

  • Soak rice and urad dal separately in water for 6-8 hrs

  • Wash the soaked urad dal and grind it first well by adding ¾ cup of water. Pour it to a bowl.
  • Now in the same way grind rice well by adding ¾ cup of water.
  • Add it to the urad dal and mix well
  • Keep it overnight for fermentation
  • After fermentation add salt to the batter and mix well
  • Beat eggs with chopped onion, green chilli, and salt and keep it aside

  • Heat a flat tawa and grease it with oil
  • Pour the batter (approx 4-5 tbsp) in the centre and spread it to a thin round
  • Immediately pour 3 tbsp of beaten eggs over it.
  • Put some pieces of chopped tomato on the top.
  • Cover it with a lid and cook for 1 or 2 mins
  • Now flip it to the other side and cook for a min. Serve hot.

 

Tips :

  • Even though you are using a non-stick tawa make sure that its greased well. Otherwise egg dosa may not come proper when you flip it.
  • If you want dosa to be crisp add 3 tbsp of boiled rice when you are grinding raw rice.
