Nadan Mutton Curry Recipe
Ingredients:
- Mutton – ½ kg
- Oil – ¼ cup
- Curry leaves – 6
- Onion – 2 big
- Fennel seeds (perumjeerakam) – ½ tsp
- Ginger garlic paste – 4 tsp
- Tomato – 1
- Green Chilli – 6
- coriander Powder – 3 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
- Garam masala – 1 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Thick coconut milk – 1 cup
To Temper
- Ghee/ oil – 2 tbsp
- Small onion – 4
- Curry leaves – 6
(Note: 1 Cup = 250 ml. Vary the amount of chilli as per your spice level)
Method:

- Heat oil in a nonstick pan. Add curry leaves, sliced onions and fennel seeds.
- When onion turns golden brown, add ginger garlic paste and green chilli. Cook for 2-3 mins.
- Add sliced tomato and cook till it turns soft.
- Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and cook for 2-3 mins.
- Add cleaned mutton pieces and mix well.
- Transfer the contents into a pressure cooker. Add 1 cup of water and pressure cook till the mutton is done. ( I usually wait for 3-4 whistle)
- Add coconut milk to the cooked mutton and cook for 6-8 min in low flame.
- To temper heat ghee/oil in a pan. Add small onion and curry leaves.
- Once onion turns brown in colour remove it from fire and pour it over cooked mutton.
- Serve hot with appam, chapthi etc.
