Chana Dal Pakoda/Pakoras Recipe
Ingredients: (Serves 2-3)
- Chana Dal – ½ cup
- Fennel seeds – ½ tsp
- Jeera – ½ tsp
- Ginger – ½ inch piece
- Garlic – 2
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Baking Soda – 1 pinch (optional)
- Asafoetida – 1 pinch
- Onion – 2 Tbsp chopped
- Coriander leaves – 1 Tbsp chopped
- Oil – for frying
- Salt
(Note: 1 Cup = 250 ml
Vary the amount of chilli as per your spice level)
Method: (With Step-by-Step Pictures)
Soak the chana dal in water for 3-4 hrs
Drain the dal and coarsely grind it along with fennel seeds, jeera, ginger, garlic and salt. (If required only sprinkle little water to grind. The batter should be thick)
Add baking soda, asafetida, chopped onion and coriander leaves and mix well.
Heat oil in a pan and put small portions of the batter with your hand
Fry in medium heat till its crisp and golden brown in color. Drain it on a paper towel and serve hot.
