Orange Cake Recipe

 


Ingredients:

  • All purpose flour/Maida – 2 cups
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp
  • Baking Soda – 1 tsp
  • Sugar – 1 ½ cups
  • Sunflower oil – 1 cup
  • Eggs – 2
  • Orange essence – 3 tsp
  • Dried orange skin powdered – 2 tsp
  • Curd – 2/3 cup
  • Orange juice – 1/2 cup
  • Orange food color – 2-3 drops
  • Salt – ½ tsp

 

(Note: 1 Cup = 250 ml.

When ever you are mixing for the cake with hand or hand mixer, you should mix in one direction only to get soft cakes)

Preheat oven to 175 degree. Line cake pan with baking sheet (butter paper) and keep it ready. (Use a wider pan for this recipe)

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, orange skin powder and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl take sugar and oil. Mix with a mixer in high speed until its combined well. Mix in the eggs one at a time in high speed

Add orange essence and food color

Add the dry ingredients to it, little at time (about 2tbsp) mixing after each addition, just until combined. (in low to medium speed)

When you find it difficult to mix, scrape with sides and alternatively start adding butter milk and mix until combined.

Add orange juice and mix in low speed

Pour the batter evenly into the cake pan. Bake in the middle rack for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool. The cakes tastes even better the next day. Enjoy!!!!
