A high fibre and fluid diet is a healthy diet.  A high fibre & fluid diet helps in proper digestion and helps in proper bowl movement. Constipation is a very common problem faced by kids. Increasing the amount of fibre Below is the list given by my Son’s Doctor. It helps us to calculate and plan accordingly the fibre intake in our food.

How much fibre should you be eating:

Adults: 20g – 30g per day

Children aged 2 to 18: Age of child + 5 g

(eg. 7 year old : 7+5 = 12g per day)

 

Breakfast Cereals/Rice & Pasta Fibre Content (grams)

Breakfast Cereals:

All-bran, Average small bowl               – 7.2

Rice Crispies, average small bowl       – 0.2

Corn Flakes, average small bowl         – 1

Muesli, average small bowl                  – 2

Weetbix, 1 biscuit                                  – 1.9

Future Life, 100g                                  – 6.1

Pronutro, 50g                                        – 7.9

Oats, 100g                                              – 11

Rice & Pasta:

Brown Boiled rice, 2 heaped tsp        – 0.6

Wholemeal spaghetti, 3 Tbsp            – 3.1
