Chicken Perattu Recipe
Ingredients:
- Chicken – 500g
- Onion – 1 Big
- Oil – 4-5 Tbsp
- Water – 1/3 cup
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves
- Salt
To Marinate:
- Small onion – 5-6
- Ginger – 1 inch piece
- Garlic – 5
- Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Coriander seeds/powder – 3 tsp
- Garam /chicken masala – 1 tsp
- Cardamom – 2
- Pepper – 1 tsp
(Note: Vary the amount of chilli as per your spice level
1 Cup = 250 ml)
Method: (With Step-by-Step pics)
Cut chicken into medium sized pieces and keep it ready
Take all the ingredients to marinate in a blender and make it into a good paste. Add little water if required
Add the masala paste to the chicken pieces. Add lemon juice and salt. Mix well and keep in fridge for one hour
Take the marinated chicken and add 1/3 cup of water and mix well
Keep the pan on stove
Cover and cook in medium flame until chicken is cooked. Keep stirring in between. If chicken is not cooked, add ¼ cup of water and cook again until chicken is 90% cooked
Keep the cooked chicken aside.
Heat another pan and add oil. Add sliced onion and curry leaves.
Saute until its golden brown in color.
Add it to the cooked chicken. Now in low flame continue cooking stirring in between. Add little oil if chicken pieces are sticking to the pan. ( Do a taste test also and salt or lemon juice if required)
Continue cooking until its brown in color. Add a handful of curry leaves on top. Serve hot and Enjoy!!!!!
