Gothambu Appam (Wheat Appam)

Surprised????? Even I was also quite surprised when my friend Preetha first told me about it. With a little doubt I tried it and it came out awesome. Its soft, moist and very east to make. My husband and my little one loves it so much that I keep making it every week. Give it a try I am sure you will also keep making it again and again and Thanks a lot Preetha for the recipe.

Gothambu Appam Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Atta  – 1 ½  cup
  • Water – 2 cup
  • Grated coconut – ½ cup
  • Yeast  – ½ tsp
  • Sugar – 5 tsp
  • Salt

 

Method:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Grind together all the ingredients. (Just 2-3 min grinding is sufficient)
  • Keep the batter overnight  at room temperature for fermenting.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Next day morning mix the batter well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Heat  a flat pan and apply oil on the same.
  •  Pour the batter ( approx  6 tablespoon) and spread it to circular shape.

  5. Pour the batter ( approx 6 tablespoon) and spread it to circular shape.
  6. Cover the pan and cook till appam is soft. (Cook in medium-low flame)
  7. Flip it and cook for a minute.
  8. Serve hot with varutharacha chicken curry or nadan chicken curry

    I’ve tried this a long time ago with an egg added in the batter and it is a short-cut to bliss! :-)

    Btw, just stumbled across this blog, and wanted to know if you’re the Vimmy who studied in CET 2002-2006?
