Potato Bajji (Aloo Bajji)

What you are planning to make for your little ones when they are back from school? Decided? If not check it out. This is a very easy recipe, a perfect snack for the whole family. The best part is its easy and quick.  It had been in my mind for a while, but was getting postponed every time. Now its there for you crispy potato bajji for your evening snack.

 

Potato Bajji Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Potato – 2 Medium Sized
  • Basen (kadalamavu) – 1 cup
  • Water – 2/3 cup
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Garam Masala – ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida – 1 pinch
  • Baking Soda – 2 pinch
  • Oil – For frying
  • Salt

 

Method:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Peel the skin of potato and slice it into thin pieces (Slice with knife only. Do not use any slicer)
  • Mix well basen, chilli powder, garam masala, baking soda, asafoetida and salt
  • Add water slowly and mix well so that no lumps are there.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Heat oil in a pan and when its hot dip potato pieces in the batter and put it in oil.
  • Fry it in medium heat until its crisp and golden brown in color. Serve hot with tomato sauce.

 

Tips:

  • Use medium-sized potato only as it gives a good oval shape.
  • To know oil is hot enough, drop a small amount of batter in oil, it should immediately sizzle to the top.
