Easy Ghee Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- All purpose flour – 1 cups
- Baking powder – ½ tsp
- Baking Soda – ½ tsp
- Salt – one pinch
- Sugar – ¾ cup
- Ghee – ½ cup
- Egg – 1
- Vanilla essence – ¾ tsp
- Butter Milk/ Curd – 1/3 cup
- Milk – 1/4 cup
(Note: 1 Cup = 250 ml.
When ever you are mixing for the cake with hand or hand mixer, you should mix in one direction only to get soft cakes.
The consistency of butter milk should be same as that of dosa batter. It should not be very thin
Make sure your oven settings are correct, else cakes wont come proper even though recipe is correct)
Method: (With Step-by-Step Pics)
Preheat oven to 175 degree. Line a cake pan with baking sheet (butter paper) and keep it ready. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl take sugar and ghee. Mix with a mixer in high speed until its combined well
Mix in the eggs in high speed
Add vanilla essence. Add the dry ingredients to it, little at time (about 2tbsp) mixing after each addition, just until combined. (all step from this step should be done in low/medium speed)
When you are start finding it difficult to mix start adding butter milk (dosa batter consistency) and mix
Add milk little at a time and mix until combined.
Pour the batter evenly into the cake pan.
Bake in the middle rack for 30- 40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove the cake from the pan and let it cool. Slightly warm cake slices before serving. Tastes great!!!!!

Hi… Ua recipes are really nice.. Can u tell me which brand of baking powder and baking soda do you use? Sumhow my makes dun cum rite 🙁
Hi Sreeja,
I live in Johannesburg and I buy the brand Snowflake Baking powder and Robertsons Baking Soda. Not sure if its available where you stay. A golden rule which i used to follow, never use baking powder or soda more than 6 months old. Try to take newest packet as you can. I used to buy very small packets every time, so that i can bake with fresh ones every times. Next thing bring all the ingredients to room temperature before baking. Mix in one direction only. One you start adding dry ingredients mix in low speed. Just give it a try that way, i am sure it will work out. Happy Baking!!!
Cheers
Vimmy
