Looking for a chicken curry recipe with thick gravy? Then your search ends here :-) . This is one of the easiest recipe to make chicken curry with very thick gravy. The ingredients are simple, its easy to prepare and taste great. I happened to make it this way once, my husband just loved it and now I keep making it every week.

 

Easy Potato Chicken Curry Recipe
Ingredients: (Serves: 4-5)

  • Chicken – 500g (cut into medium pieces)
  • Onion – 1
  • Potato – 2 medium
  • Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
  • Kashmiri chilli powder – ¾ – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 3 tsp
  • Garam masala – 1 tsp
  • Water – 3/4 cup
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Oil – 5 tbsp
  • Salt

To Marinate :

  • Red chilli powder – ¾ – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
  • Vinegar – 1 ½ tsp
  • Salt

(Note: 1 cup=250ml. Vary the amount of chilli as per your spice level)
Method:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Peel the skin of potato and cut it into medium cubes
  • Mix all the ingredients to marinate. Add little water into it and make it to a paste
  • Add chicken pieces into it and mix well.
  • Add to it half of sliced onion, cubed potato and ¾ cup of water.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Pressure cook the same. (Go for 1 whistle and immediately remove the cooker from the stove. Open the cooker once steam goes completely)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Heat oil in a pan and add sliced onion and curry leaves and sauté till it becomes brown.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Once onion becomes brown add ginger garlic paste, all spice powder, salt and sauté for a minute or two.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • To the pan add the whole contents of the cooker and bring it to boil.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Cook with the pan covered in medium flame for 6- 8 mins till gravy becomes thick and oil starts appearing on the top.
  • Add 2 Tbsp of oil on the top. Serve hot with appam, chappati etc
