Beef Dry: Beef Olathiyathu ( Beef Stir Fry, Kerala Style)

Beef Olathiyathu

This is again another dish my mother in law makes frequently. I just love it and started including in my weekly menu often. It’s a dry dish and goes very well with rice and curd. Check it out!!!!!

Beef Olathiyathu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Beef – 500g (cut into small pieces)
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Small onion – 5

To Marinate

  • Chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 2 tsp

  1. Mix all ingredients to marinate. Add little water and make it into a good paste.
  2. Add cut beef pieces and mix well.
  3. Pressure cook marinated beef till beef is cooked well.
  4. Open the cooker and if stock is there, cook without putting the lid till beef is almost 80% dry.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and crackle mustard seeds.

  7. When onion becomes soft add ginger garlic paste, green chilli and cook for 2-3 min.

  9. Add coconut pieces and mix well.
  10. Add cooked beef and mix well
  11. Cook in medium flame till beef is completely dry and becomes dark brown in colour. Serve hot.

Tips:

  • Add little oil in between if you feel beef is sticking to the pan.
