Pal Payasam (Rice Kheer in Cooker)
Serves: 3-4
  • Milk – 1 Litre
  • Sugar – 2/3 cup
  • Basmati Rice – ¼ cup
  • Cardamom Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Ghee – 5 tbsp
  • Cashew nuts – 3 tbsp
  1. Wash basmati rice and keep it ready
  2. Take milk in the cooker and bring it to boil. (I used 4 liter pressure cooker)
  3. Now add 2 tbsp ghee, sugar and basmati rice and mix well.
  4. Cover the cooker with lid and put the cooker weight.
  5. Cook in low flame for 45 min. (Make sure its low flame itself, no whistle should be there)
  6. Now remove from stove and open cooker once steam goes completely. (The payasm would be thick and will be peach in color)
  7. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
  8. Heat remaining ghee in a pan and fry cashew nuts and pour it over the payasam prepared.
