Chicken Gravy: Nadan Chicken Curry (Kerala Style)

Ingredients
  • Chicken – ½ kg
  • Onion – 2 big
  • Fennel seeds (perumjeerakam) – ½ tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste – 3 tsp
  • Tomato – 2 medium
  • Green chilli – 3 - 4
  • Pepper powder – 1-1 ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 3 tsp
  • Garam Masala – 1 tsp
  • Thin coocnut milk – 1 cup
  • Thick coconut Milk – 1 cup
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Oil
  • Salt
Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pan and add sliced onion, fennel seeds and curry leaves.
  2. Cook with the pan covered and stir in between till onion turns brown in colour
  3. Add green chilli, ginger garlic paste and cook for 2-3 min.
  4. Add sliced tomato and cook till tomato becomes soft.
  5. Add pepper, turmeric, coriander, garam masala, salt and cook for 2-3 min.
  6. Add chicken pieces and mix well
  7. Add thin coconut milk and cook with the pan covered in medium flame till chicken is cooked
  8. Add thick coconut milk and mix well.
  9. Cook with the pan covered in medium flame till it starts boiling and becomes thick
  10. Pour 1 tbsp of oil/ghee on the top. Serve hot with appam/ chapathi etc
