Kovakka Thoran

Vegetables are the most important dish we need to add along with our meals. For that, this is an easy kovakka thoran recipe which is very tasty as well as healthy. Give a try and serve with hot meals.

Easy Kovakka Thoran Recipe


  • Kovakka – 300 gm
  • Green chilli – 4
  • Grated coconut – 2/3 cup
  • Onion – 1 medium
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Oil
  • Salt

(Note: 1 Cup = 250 ml)


Method:(With Step by step pics)

Clean and wash kovakka.


Cut kovakka lengthwise into 4 pieces and then chop it into small pieces.


Chop the entire Kovakka


Mix well sliced kovakka with coconut and salt using hands.


Slice onion into small pieces.


Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds and add onion, green chillies and curry leaves to it. Add a pinch of salt also.


Sauté until it becomes soft.


Then add turmeric powder and sauté for a minute.


Then add kovakka coconut mixture and mix well.


Cover it with lid. Put it on low flame.


Stir in between and do salt test also. Continue it on fire until it is cooked well. It took 10-15 minutes for me.


Serve with hot meals.
